Hello again! I'm very pleased to announce that "Virginia" is ready for its first public beta test! While some work, such as 3D road meshes are not finished yet, the map is nearly complete and very playable. The purpose of releasing this is so everyone can help check for bugs, and participate in online testing this weekend!

1. epic ~

the most overused word ever, next to fail. for even more asshole points, use them together to form "epic fail." everything is epic now. epic car. epic haircut. epic movie. epic album. epic shut the fuck up. saying "epic win" doesn't make you sound any better, either. and for fucks sake, don't ever say it in person.

e.g, DUDE UR POSTCOUNT IZ EPIC FAIL FAGOT.

it is realy a fantastic map!!! congrats Evil :) i just played a view rounds in skrmish mode.
i have seen some little bugs.

- the silos at the street near the crop refinary are hovering over the ground at one side
- is it possible that u have lowered the backflow of the reinforcement points? personally i'm not very
happy about that ;) it takes too long that u can buy a 4th chopper for example.
- also the map got a few problems in case of loading maps objects

-so much to see (lots of sceneries)
-nice texturing
-good ideas

could it be the map is a bit larger than normal maps ?
i just dont like the 2 highrise buildings (burning ) in the north cause it looks a bit unusal --2 highrise buildings in total countryside):)

-ont the highway crash 2 cars are in the botton
-few objects in the air
-look out tower on the silo

very nice map

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Good call with the bugs as well. I've been having problems with the RP rate, but I was hoping it's fixed. I'll be sure to get those fixed!

Yup, it is a bit larger than most maps. This is due to the fact that when I started this map in November, my original goal was to simply push the game and editing tools as far as they could go. I liked my results, and so here we are! Thanks for the bugs & feedback too. :)

You're welcome! Nice finds with those screenshots too, I hadn't seen that river bug, haha. I'll have to set up some more blockboxes. And yes, I've gotten a lot of feedback about my ugly little placeholder bridge, hehe. I'll be redoing that when I finish the 3D roads. :)

Hunting = Cheap father son time in the woods. He is 10 so its more like shotin stuff. I'm almost ready to take the tape off of the stock.(Where he puts his cheek bone everytime he shots)
It makes for a good anger management release.


But I will still try and be at one of the servers if we don't go.

Just played the map, overall it looked great.

Just a few things though, the map is a tad big which increases the lag. Also, with it being that big it makes it difficult to move together with other units/teammates. It seemed liked this forced most people to play alone rather than as a team.

The bridge in the middle of the map that looks like 2 bridges pieced together looks a little akward. You can probably do without.

Overall nice job!!!
This is definitely one of the premier custom maps, and to my mind, more because of the interesting and well thought out placement of control points and avenues of attack, than even the fine attention to detail.

During the matches, someone mentioned the map was imbalanced toward infantry thanks to the number of houses and forested regions. If some of those elements were to be considered for removal, I think a better reason for doing so would be to achieve an improved frame rate, as mentioned above. My machine will run any of the vanilla maps smoothly on high detail, but even on medium, this map was somewhat choppy (though still very playable). For people playing with anything slower, it could be difficult. Having taken a closer look at Massive's maps, most of the real detail is only concentrated in a few specific areas, and features like large cities are shown outside the map using low-poly models.

Having said that, you probably would not be too keen on getting rid of things you have spent so much time adding. Maybe there is a way of optimizing it for performance.
I liked the map ton of room to move, but it looked like the USSR side has the upper hand. Also the RF points are too slow. I know there are more bugs, but for game play the FP dose hurt. Not sure if there is anyway to fix that or not.

heres some Idea to test out.

If you can't get the RF point to resupply faster have more.

moving the USA spawn area closer to the town.

I didnt get the chance to play as USSR so I can't add any ideas for that side. The map is most like in my mind the best custom map make to date.

Well done to author :) I like the different terrain and heights. The map is very crowded with buildings and roads and i think it is positive and players will have to learn how to play on it. I think its for advanced players not for rookies. Hope massgate will give it as official map for download.

Great Map ! I've been enjoying it. I was screwing around today and Launched a nuke .. The CP that I hit didn't revert to neutral. meaning the other side still controlled it after the nuke hit.

It was the 3 point CP across the long train tracks.

perhaps it is only because it is a beta version? who knows .. great map.. look forward to the official release.
yeah, great work! there were some path issues with some of the units going where they shouldnt be able to, but other than that, congratulations!
