Heyoo,
We would like to take the opportunity to introduce two brand new servers now available via Massgate!
“- But Gearhead, what’s so special about two new servers?” – You ask yourself while finishing the last zip of your Jolt cola.
Allow me to explain!
The two new servers are called Beginners Haven 1 & 2.
The reason we’ve decided to create these servers is part based on excellent feedback from you guys and our desire to provide a smooth and enjoyable first time experience for new players.
As you might have figured out already, these servers are meant to be a safe zone for our new players that are still learning and exploring the game. Every new player should be able to try out the game in a safe and friendly environment without having to adapt their play style before even getting comfortable with the game. That’s what these servers are for, allowing players to try out different things and playing around a bit before moving on to other servers and playing together with more experienced players.
Some Ground Rules
There are some additional ground rules on these servers other than the usual ones that we would like to inform you all about:
- The servers are ranked.
- The servers will have rank balance enabled to avoid team stacking.
- These servers are mainly for new players and beginners.
- Senior or veteran players (sergeant rank or higher) may enter the server:
Only in order to help and guide new players in a friendly and polite manner.
A few things are worth mentioning about this:
If you are not contributing by actively helping out new players you might get kicked from the server.
There should only be around 1-2 higher ranked players on each side at any time.
Higher ranked players will always be first removed from the server when making room for new players.
Low ranked player always have right of way, meaning that if one side is full the higher ranked players may be kicked to give room for additional beginners.
How to deal with abusive players
If a veteran player joins the server and abuses new players (smurf profiles are especially frowned upon) that player will receive an immediate temporary ban from the game. If the abuse continues the ban will be prolonged each time and may in the end lead to a permanent ban from the game.
Please use the in-game report tool to report players or send an E-mail to report@wic.massgate.net and include screenshots or a replay of the abuse taking place.
We urge experienced players to join these servers and help out our new players in a friendly manner, giving them tips and pointers and making them feel welcome!
If you spend time helping out the community your hard work will be rewarded!
If there are any players interested in being an admin for the servers please contact me (Gearhead) via PM and we’ll talk more about it! This will require that you are available occasionally during the day and are able to oversee the servers from time to time and make sure that everything is running smoothly.
Other than that we would like to welcome all of our new players warmly and we sincerely hope that you will have fun and enjoy your first World in Conflict experience!
Cheers

Seems to be a good idea - lets wait how it works.
(So there ARE new players - amazing ;-) .)
When are the servers going to be ready?
They should be up and running as we speak!
Are you having trouble finding or joining them?

No problem finding or joining them.
Could we get some of them ranked?I know this might lead to the noobbashing issue but still.
Nvm, they are just empty :P

good idea but I don't think it will work either :(
I cant see the training servers..
it is not goin to work but thanks for trying
Any way of making really new players (<100 games) default to them when they hit the "Play Now" button?
You could also try putting a pop up or message for the first time people log on to the Multilayer, telling them to try these servers. Most people will never know these servers exist unless you prompt them.
hey i am havin' a prob findin' these new servers...Any help? I am interested to see them...
AS I read the OP, I was drinking a cola! Coincidence, or some omniscient power that game developers have discovered?
Anyways, the servers are empty, probably because of a lack of info. Honestly, how many people read the news on the ingame menu? I don't even recognize it if its new most of the time. Maybe a popup of when the news is updated. You need to promote this further to the new players because they will join a server, like one of the VENOM ones, and then be kicked for being noobish and in the end quit WiC.
The severs need to be the default servers of the new players, like Muck said. Maybe a fourth tab of the server options (servers, create, favorites) for servers specifically for them?
Happy holidays!

Heyoo,
Very good suggestions everyone! I agree that a redirection to the beginners servers when you press "Play Now" is a good idea for new players as well as the automatic pop-ups when you enter multiplayer for the first time.
We've will start with providing the servers for now because that is a step that we can easily take without having to actually add and implement new features into the game and our hopes are that we can together make new players join the servers.
If you can't find the servers, remember that they are currently unranked! So turn of ranked in your server filters and search for Beginners Haven as server name and you should find them.

Good idea, hope the newbs read forums...
Maybe a message (in colour ?) in the Massgate Status frame at login screen would help.
where do you find the servers?
Go to online play, click the servers tab, then the dropdown that says list. Set all filters to no filters. In the name box at the right, type in hav and then click refresh at the bottom. It should come up with approximately three servers, two Haven servers, and one other.
Happy holidays!

Hiya,
The servers are now ranked and there are currently 3 admins (2 more will be assigned shortly) planned for administrating them.
I've updated the original post with this information and clarified some of the additional rules regarding higher ranked players and likewise.
If you encounter any new players, spread the word about these servers!

Yep,allowing generals to "teach" seems to be a bad idea.
Guess ban for all generals is needed and make it purely a starter server. And maybe get a "star only" servers up and running aswell?
But the good side is that atleast the servers are in use instead of sitting empty.

Just took a look at the server list and noticed that the Beginners haven 1 server had 12 four star generals, surely this is taking "training" over the limit, instead the server appeared daungting to new players and suggests that people went on them to noob bash.
Is there anything massive can do to stop this? I understand the problem with smurfs and yes, some people may have been there to help the newer players...but having 12 generals on a server designated for use by new players seems pretty pointless.
lol, take screen shots of the the 4 stars noob bashing haha
just an idea: only allow beginners and the admins to join (more admins maybe?). this should keep out the overload of generals but keep in the few trainees.

Would it really be to hard to allow server admins a way to limit by average score who can join a server automatically or join a game if you cant do it on joining a server
This would help both good and new players.
Good players would be able to play with similar skilled players and not lose a game due to unexperienced not taking advice new players.
New players can learn the ropes in there own way once there average score reaches a certain point they get banned and get to play with the more experienced.
You rank balance system does not work and actually is of little benefit.
Please consider this change.
