first of all, 99% of players can't follow those simple rules, so maybe it will be helpful for them.

"professional" tips would regard 5vs5 games, and you can't ask them to share the tactics that have made them the best team so far. Unfortunately, replays will soon do the job

i particulary love the Air guys last comment at 12
yes he is right, if u play with Medium choppers, you are bound to have small scores, but if u use 3 Hvy attack chopers, then you will own if u take good care of them

The most important thing I've learned recently is that click-drag lets you space out the formation of your units, so they're not in a cluster. Makes all the difference in the world.

Always difficult getting the right balance when writing a guide. We provided a range of solid tips that we thought wouldn’t be difficult for a novice gamer to follow, while also being useful for those looking to take it more seriously.

While we didn’t cover everything it should be a good starting point for anyone coming into WiC. Hope you enjoy it.

Use the Alt-key to watch individual units Line-of-sight, it will help you position them and figure out how to keep your units at maximum distance against other units that you don't want to get to close to, ie. AT-infantry.

Take unit movement and the terrain in consideration when you place tactical aids, where would you move your units next if you where him/her and try to place it not on the units but rather where you suspect that they could move. A hit or a miss might tip the scale of battle for you.

When talking about the infantry, he suggests using trucks heavily. I would suggest using the helicopters instead. I find that with 3 fully loaded transport helo's I can impact the battlefield much quicker than with trucks.

Good tips for beginners. Nice of them to do that for the not so WiC inclined.

Wish they would have done some armor tactics. I like to see how my strategies measure up against others.

*sigh* you're just spending half of your points to buy helicopters leaving you with a maximum of 4 squads, while with trucks you can have twice as many... those are tips from top players, you should wonder why they don' do it.

Uhhhh

Trucks = fodder for heat shells

Trucks = cannot go across rivers

Trucks = slow loading time and logistics

I usually go 2 transport heli's 2 inf and 2 snipers on loadout. The inf capture one command point at start, snipers get transported in heli's to the back of the enemy base where they give vision on enemy spawn. My heli's (if they survive) come back to my spawn to find another 2 inf or AT inf have come in and can load up and move out to trees to harass enemy command points like no tomorrow. THAT is why choppers > trucks.

Edit: By the way I read their guide to playing WiC... there's nothing useful there. Well... I guess if you don't want to frustrate your teammates from your absurd lack of control then it's helpful, but these are really the most basic of strategies... 0.o

How about turning this thread into a tip page? Although, might be kind of pointless since nobody is going to reveal their trade secrets.

I'll volunteer some basic information though:

1) When using heavy choppers strike at targets then head to the back of your spawn to repair. Getting lieutenant or possibly general choppers is devastating to both enemy tanks and morale, and not having to constantly respawn units means you are doing more fighting instead of waiting.

2) If you are attempting to capture a point and have one perimeter point (out of two or three), do not keep your unit on that perimeter point until the rest are about to be taken. This is a prime target for artillery, as they are basically given a target with a guaranteed kill. Lone red perimeter points are like beacons calling all artillery on the map toward them.

3) Furthermore, if you capture a position using infantry that is somewhat close to the enemy, do not leave them in the perimeter point. Instead occupy a nearby building or better yet some trees, as you will be undetected. Infantry have horrible reinforcement rates and are the most vulnerable to TA, so they are best used to capture then harass a hot control point rather than staging an overt defense.

Yeah but you can have 4 infantry and 4 trucks, and if you rush to wherever you are going you'll be fine. The trick with infantry in my experience is to go to one place and stay there unless you can safely move from safe cover to safe cover. Pull the other 4 trucks back, reload them with more infantry and take them elsewhere or sometimes I like to sneak past enemy lines and take out artillery. Also spread the trucks out so if they hit you with some TA it minimizes your losses.

thepope said it all. if you use trucks, you have twice as many infantry squads. having only 2 squads and other 2 to come means your team will play 4vs5. you must hold the points, not rush them. As you can't avoid artillery forever, you need to have a steady stream of new units ferried to the battlefield.

You'd better hear moyes' advices, I've yet to find someone who can use infantry as effectively.

The WiC guide is just that, a guide, a base on which people can build. Inside Dignitas we are constantly developing our understanding of the game, despite having won each WiC tournament we have entered thus far we know we can improve a lot!

In the coming weeks and months our play style will change considerably i'm sure, how can it not when we are all so new to this game? We will probably modify the article at some future point to reflect our additional experiences.

Good to see people thinking critically about the article, working out and putting into practice your own ideas is a solid platform on which to develop your skills in the long run.

My counter to that is with 2 transport helicopters (I do think 3 is overkill) you can ferry units faster then with two trucks. Also, transport heli's tend to survive longer due to their speed and the flare ability, or they act as perfect decoys for the noob air guy trying to harass your infantry. (not to mention, normal infantry can fire out of transport heli's allowing you to actually kill AT inf without and harm to your troops, whereas with trucks, they would be a smoking wreck if you ran across AT inf)

Also, by rushing a point you have more time to build up defenses that are critical for infantry to hold any point due to their vulnerability to arty fire and TA's.

From my experience, trucks are adequate for the beginning of the game, but after the game starts to develop it becomes difficult to use trucks as they are easily destroyed not to mention slower then transport heli's.

One question I do have...what is the best way for infantry to hold CP's? I find that keeping them anywhere near one is a death sentence due to arty. You can only spread them out so far and it's tedious to keep sprinting them in and out to avoid arty fire. Anyone found any nifty way around it?

you don't get the point. How many infantry squads would you buy with 2000 spent on helicopters?

Well, when I play inf it is usually with a buddy of mine that likes air...so I get lots of transport and no cost, he drops me off all over and deletes the transports then goes on his attack chopper runs using my inf to spot and as light AA assistance. ;) Teamwork - a concept lost on most, I fear. lol

I like a couple ingame tips while you wait for the maps to load. Like Shift-N makes your tanks back peddle to have your thickest front armor protect your back while your retreating, also the Force move N key so you can run over those pesky infantry you may not have the appropriate vehicle for. One other handy tip I found was to always make sure you have a straight line of sight to your target when you use your offensive abilities. I've actually taken out my own tanks by spamming my offensive abilities and have my lead unit take 3 hits to the back which can do alot of damage...D'oh! So if theres a hill crest or a building edge between you and your target it's always best to wait and fire it when you have a clear shot.
Arguing with me is like competing in the Special Olympics...Even if you win your still retarded.

Thanks for tips Team Dignitas! I have only observed so far and these appear to be solid tips for the new players such as my self.

One note: In my obervations as a spectator two things that seem obvious but it doesn't appear all groups do these: combined arms and TEAMWORK! In most every match that I have seen the team that won had a better mix of units and at least appeared to have better teamwork.

Enough. Well, at least enough in most situations. Depends on the map, but in maps where infantry is effective you don't actually need much infantry. Anyone remember the Russian map with the mining pit in the middle? That was a very good infantry map and dropping in 2 AT squads at a time allowed me to harass the points closest to the enemy buying valuable time for the rest of my team to mop up all the other CP's. Plus, aerial insertions of snipers to tree clusters in the back of the enemy spawn (US Farmland map) provides better sight range and is usually faster than paratroopers. Better still is when you drop in a sniper and the chopper dies right after, they think they killed the sniper and the chopper but instead the sniper is safely hidden and giving recon, plus hes the cheapest infantry unit to get so he's perfect for a scout.

My friends and my counter, is he go armour get as many armoured transports as he can, and I get 8 inf squads at the bat, and you got a truly good TEAM (wait isn't that what massgate said this was about?) can take on bout anything, and when the artillery comes, well were usually gone

Here's a tip I’m happy to share:

Try getting enemy choppers to follow your own choppers back into your team AA defenses.

Its called team work.
